Free haircuts for children alongside free clothes
Free haircuts for children were added to the usual free clothes and equipment for young families which Gateway Vineyard’s Growkids project offers every week in Norwich, as part of the church’s 1000 Hours campaign of kindness.
Every week Growkids provides good quality clothing and equipment free to families with children aged from 0 to 12 years old. They are all given as a gift with no charge.
Last week, as an extra service as part of the 1000 Hours kindness campaign being run by the church during the 40 days of Lent, Norwich hairdresser Carina, herself a church member, was offering free haircuts for youngsters.
Organiser Katie Lillystone said: “Anyone can turn up at the church’s offices in Trowse on a Wednesday morning. Families are signposted by children’s services, health visitors, and other support agencies, but there is no referral needed and they are open for anyone to access.”
Between half and dozen and a dozen different families usually turn up each week and can include the vulnerable and refugees, but 17 came with the free haircuts were also on offer. The chance for children to play and snacks are also offered for free.
